From Knowledge to Action and Back: Advancing Science Communication at Rutgers
September 2020-April 2021
Communicating science effectively has never been more important. From fighting the COVID-19 pandemic to addressing the climate crisis, leading with science necessarily means engaging diverse groups of audiences with scientific knowledge. How to do this effectively is a primary concern for scientists, practitioners, and intermediaries who seek to promote evidence-based policies and practices in a wide range of academic and professional fields. Building on Rutgers’s long history of science communication research, teaching and practice, the Rutgers Science Communication Initiative is pleased to announce a monthly seminar series that will showcase science communication-related innovations and support a community of practice focused on building capacity for effective science communication at Rutgers and beyond. Over the course of the 2020-2021 academic year, this free seminar series will bring together members of the Rutgers community, as well as outside speakers and guests, to share work to advance science communication and to pursue potential research collaborations and training initiatives. On September 22nd, please join us for the kick off of the Rutgers Science Communication Initiative Seminar Series. Our keynote speaker is Dr. Alan Leshner, CEO Emeritus of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
