Maral Mouradian, MD (@Rutgers University) As an internationally recognized physician-scientist, Mouradian's career focus has been to elucidate the molecular pathogenesis of Parkinson’s disease (PD) and its treatment complications, and to develop therapies both for disease modification and improved symptom control. Her seminal contributions have provided the rationale for the development of continuous therapeutic modalities for PD. To date, she has authored over 200 scholarly publications, edited two books on Parkinson disease, and holds several patents. Her research is funded by multiple grants from the NIH, the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, the American Parkinson Disease Association, and other foundations. Karen Avraham, PhD (@Tel Aviv University) Avraham is the incumbent of the Drs. Sarah and Felix Dumont Chair for Research of Hearing Disorders at Tel Aviv University. She has published 102 peer-reviewed manuscripts, 37 reviews and 17 book chapters. Avraham was awarded the Bruno Memorial Prize, the TEVA Prize for Groundbreaking Research in the Field of Rare Diseases, and the Teva Founders Prize on Breakthroughs. She is President of the Scientific Committee of the Foundation for Hearing and of the Israel Society for Auditory Research. Avraham is a board member of the Human Genome Organization (HUGO) and of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO). She runs the Single Cell Genomes Core at the Faculty of Medicine, directs the TAU Summer Research Program in the Sciences for international undergraduate students and coordinates international workshops and conferences, including at the Jackson Laboratory in Maine, USA, the Human Genome Organization Meeting in Seoul, S Korea and the EMBO at BASEL LIFE Conf in Switzerland.
